Three Simple Steps to Get Started
Saving on your electricity bill doesn't have to be complicated. With SpotPris you can get started in under five minutes.
Step 1: Choose the Right Price Zone
Go to spotpris.today and click on "Sweden" or "Norway" in the navigation bar. Then select your electricity zone. The hourly price for your specific zone is shown immediately.
Step 2: Understand the Chart
The bar chart on the homepage shows the price for each hour today and, from around 13:00, for tomorrow. Green bars mean cheap electricity, red means expensive. Use this to plan:
- Laundry and drying: Run the machines during green hours, preferably late night to early morning
- EV charging: Set the charging time to the cheapest hours
- Dishwasher: Most modern machines have a delayed start feature
Step 3: Activate Price Alerts
Click the gear icon (settings) and configure:
- High price limit: E.g., 150 öre — you get warned when the price exceeds this
- Low price limit: E.g., 30 öre — you get notified about good buying opportunities
- Daily summary: Sent at the time you choose, with tomorrow's prices
Advanced Use: SMS and Push Notifications
With a Grund subscription, you get web push notifications directly on your phone — even when the browser is closed. This means you can be notified about price peaks in the middle of the night and postpone the washing machine until morning.
Plus and Premium give you SMS alerts: perfect for those who aren't always online or want immediate notification regardless of internet access.
A Quick Calculation
An average Norwegian household uses about 16,000 kWh per year. If you manage to shift 20% of consumption from expensive to cheap hours, and the price difference is 100 øre (1 krone), you save:
16,000 kWh × 20% × 1 kr = 3,200 kr per year
That's more than enough to cover a Plus subscription many times over.
